"love one another or you will perish." ultimately it's not what you own or accomplish that that will be meaningful after death. it's the people you connect with, love, have a relationship with that will remember you, and through these memories, you live on through them. material comforts will not give that emotional connection to ease the emptiness when one is old and alone. yet most people are too busy working or doing what they think they should do to make time for forming and maintaining relationships and connection. one may know so many people but at such a superficial level that they may as well not be known.
somehow i feel like i've forgotten how to communicate and connect with others beyond meaningless chatter to fill awkward silences. i missed the long discussions about life and dreams and others' opinions on many other things. i've become used to silence, to the words appearing on chat screens, to the gradual death of conversation where parties run out of things to say. i've become used to my own presence, voices in my head, mostly silent, sometimes chaotic, that it tires me to interact with others. i missed the passion, the connection, the words. yet the assumption and mostly truth that everyone is busy can't be denied. but as in all things, it's a matter of effort. effort to reach out, to keep in touch, and an interest to know more.
maybe im just a lazy pig.
